The Code for Sustainable Homes - Cracking the Code

Following the predicted financial consequences of climate change set out in the Stern Review, Chancellor Brown annouced his intention to ensure that new homes are carbon neutral within the next ten years. The new Code for Sustainable Homes sets out how the government intends to take the first step along the way to addressing these issues.

The "Cracking the Code" Conference was held in peaceful surroundings at Austin Court in Birmingham, with delegates travelling from throughout the UK. All the speakers were well prepared and the whole day ran on time!

The comprehensive content covered the development of the Code, and our initial speakers were from the government and BRE. Other expert speakers gave a good overview of how to apply the Code, energy efficiency requirents, materials, health, waste management, water consumption as well as ecology and the benefits of the Code.
