A striking and contemporary apartment block in Barnet, London, incorporates the high performance external wall insulation (EWI) system by Saint-Gobain Weber, a leading formulator and manufacturer of innovative materials for the construction industry.
The new build development has been designed by the award-winning Picardi Architects practice for client Laxcon Developments of Neasdon, London. Sustainability was a key element of the design brief which incorporates heat recovery, photovoltaics, a green roof and high performance glazing as well as Energy Saving Trust recommended weber.therm XM EWI. This multi-layer, lightweight, thin coat insulation system, recognised for achieving exceptional levels of thermal efficiency, was applied by main design and build contractor Laxcon Construction. Using 130mm thick PIR (polyisocyanurate) insulation board as an integral part of the system, Saint-Gobain Weber calculated a target U-value of 0.25 W/m²k.
