As one of the UK's leading underfloor heating suppliers, Nu-Heat has been delighted with results from installations using Knauf Brio precision engineered gypsum fibreboard instead of chipboard. Traditionally, most gypsum boards have not been able to withstand the contact temperature of the UFH plate, but Brio board endures up to 55 degrees centigrade.
As a dry floor screed, Knauf Brio is a good alternative to traditional wet screed. It enables work to be carried out room by room, making it ideal for renovations. Additionally it has good acoustic benefits, as it is much denser than chipboard, reducing airborne sound transmission.
Nu-Heat has a number of floor constructions available using Brio in place of chipboard, including joists, acoustic and floating floor.
