Housing associations have been offered a way to reduce electricity bills by at least 15% through the use of solar panels and battery storage, without facing any upfront funding or ongoing maintenance costs.
Citizen housing association tenants are now making these savings, after moving into the first phase of development at West Works, Longbridge West, Birmingham.
The SNRG SmartGrid is an intelligent private wire microgrid that integrates advanced onsite monitoring, control, and communication technologies with cloud-based software.
It seamlessly connects and optimises multiple energy assets on a development, to reduce reliance on grid imports and exports, while providing benefits for the development as a whole.
SNRG funds, installs, operates and maintains the SmartGrid, allowing housing associations to provide low cost, low carbon energy across their developments.
At West Works, the SNRG SmartGrid will eventually power 215 homes, with 189 electric vehicle chargers also connected to the private network.
