The NHBC Standards define the technical requirements to which homes registered with us must be built. We inspect the quality of construction through an on-site inspection regime and technical risk management activities. We also provide a range of construction quality and training services to our registered customers, all designed to support our core purpose of raising standards.

As a company limited by guarantee, we operate without shareholders and maintain independence from the Government and the construction industry. This autonomy allows us to direct any profits we generate back into the business, supporting our commitment to our core purpose. We are authorised by the Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA) and dual regulated by the PRA and the Financial Conduct Authority.

Protection for homeowners is provided by our Buildmark and Buildmark Choice policies. Buildmark offers new homeowners deposit protection, a two-year builder warranty backed by the NHBC resolution service and an additional eight years’ insurance for structural defects.
