Jon Reed, Atkins Global

Jonathan is head of the Atkins Water Resources group in Epsom and has wide experience of sustainable water management.  Typically, his projects call for creating solutions which balance infrastructure requirements with the environment.


He is currently managing one of Southern Water's strategic water resource investigations, examining long term options to balance supply and demand within their eastern area of supply.  He was also responsible for applying for a range of source Drought Permits and Orders, together with Drought Orders for non-essential use, on behalf of Sutton & East Surrey Water, Mid Kent Water and Southern Water.


Jonathan has written a number of best practice guidance documents on sustainable water management.  This includes working with CIRIA to develop a set of Model Agreements for the long term maintenance and adoption of SUDS, together with guidance on implementing sustainable water management in schools.  He has worked on a number of projects promoting water efficiency, including the production of supplementary planning guidance for Kent.  He is also a Director of Sponge, a charity which promotes sustainable development within the built environment and is a member of CIRIA's Water Engineering Advisory Panel.
