Helen joined Orbit i n October 2019 and is responsible for the operational delivery of all new developments across the Group , which this year, will see Orbit Homes deliver 1,231 homes this year and 6,500 new homes by 2025 .
Helen has worked in the property development industry for over 30 years, initially at Countryside progressing from a Graduate position to Sales & Marketing Director and Head of Corporate Communications, before joining Crest Nicholson as Sales & Marketing Director of a newly established region. Having established her own property consultancy, in 2010, she was appointed the first non-family Managing Director of City & Country, working with some of the country’s most important heritage assets. She created and delivered a highly successful growth and profile-raising strategy, achieving award winning recognition for growth coupled with the design and quality of their sensitive developments.
Since joining Orbit, Helen has led the ‘Your Place to Thrive’ brand repositioning , the introduction of sector-leading design standards, new house designs and specification, streamlined Orbit Homes ’ land acquisition processes to maximise market opportunities and created a ‘one-team’ approach across the business . She has created a truly tenure-blind customer experience, while maximising the social benefit and reducing the environmental impact of the new homes that Orbit Homes delivers.
Helen is passionate about promoting the need for a more diverse and inclusive workforce in the Construction industry, with a particular focus on women and she is often asked to speak on this subject. She mentors female team members, encouraging them to break away from the shackles of imposter syndrome, giving them practical advice about how to deal with outdated attitudes and carve out an exciting career for themselves in such an inspiring sector.
