Doug Godden is Head of the CBI\'s Economic and Fiscal Policy Group, responsible for leading the organisation's work on Budget and other 'structural' economic issues. From 2001 until 2007, his remit as Head of Economic Analysis also extended to UK and global economic developments, economic forecasting, analysis of business surveys and 'cyclical' policy issues including interest rate setting.
He has worked in a variety of economics-related roles at the CBI since 1987, becoming Head of Economic Policy in late 1992. He was seconded to work as an economist in the European Union Department at the Foreign Office in 1999, returning to the CBI the following year.
Doug Godden is 45 and holds two degrees in economics, the B.Sc.(Econ.) from University College, London and the M.Phil. from Brasenose College, Oxford. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
