Adrian Corser

Keith Marshall took up his appointment as chief executive of SummitSkills in March 2003.  SummitSkills is the Sector Skills Council for the building services engineering sector, which includes the electrotechnical, heating ventilating, air conditioning, refrigerating and plumbing industries.

Immediately previously he was director of inspection (planning) for the Adult Learning Inspectorate which came into being in April 2001.  Prior to this he was a director of the Training Standards Council.

Between 1985 and 1997, Keith worked for the Engineering Industry Training Board (EITB) which became the Engineering Training Authority (EnTra) and then the Engineering and Marine Training Authority (EMTA).   At the point of leaving EMTA he was head of standards development, developing National Occupational Standards for Engineering NVQs.

Keith's early career was as a weapons electrical engineer for the Royal Navy, specialising in conventional submarines.  After leaving the Navy, Keith worked for five years for a defence contract company.

Keith Marshall is a Chartered Engineer; a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and has an Honours degree in Electrical Engineering with Electronics.

He was appointed OBE in the Queens Birthday Honours 2008.
