Miller Homes has agreed to buy St Modwen Homes as part of its medium-term goal to deliver 6,000 homes a year.

The Edinburgh-based Miller announced today (December 20) that it would acquire the housebuilder, which has its head office in Birmingham. The deal will involve Miller acquiring 19 live sites, totalling around 3,500 plots for new homes and a further five strategic sites.

Miller’s acquisition will allow it to grow a presence in the West Midlands, East Midlands and South regions. The addition of St Modwen will see Miller enter the South West for the first time.

The purchase forms a “significant” part of Miller Homes’ strategy to grow to 6,000 homes annually. Under the transaction, St Modwen will continue to operate under its brand, establishing a new regional office in the South West of England.

Both businesses are five-star housebuilders and, according to Miller, share the same approach to “excellent quality and customer experience”.

The deal is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2025, subject to regulatory approval.
