Bellway was crowned Large housebuilder of the year at The Housebuilder Awards 2023 last night, as the industry came together to celebrate the best in the UK new homes sector.
The national housebuilder beat other strong contenders to lift the trophy for its performance in four categories, including a win in the Best staff development category for its innovative projects around being an Employer of Choice. It also shared the Best sustainability initiative award with Barratt for its Better with Bellway commitment to sustainability.
Comedian and television presenter Joel Dommett hosted the event at The InterContinental The O2 which was attended by 700 guests.
Thakeham was declared Medium housebuilder of the year. The South-East based company won the coveted Best design for three storeys or fewer award for The Villas on the Green in Pease Pottage, a large four-bedroom property blending Edwardian and Scandinavian influences.
Small housebuilder of the year was Spitfire, who impressed across four categories. The Birmingham based SME was a finalist in the Best refurbishment and Design – three storeys categories for Beaufort, Edgbaston. It also featured in the Best marketing shortlist for Show home in the metaverse, with its sales director Matt Vincent a finalist in the Housebuilder Star category.
It was Vistry Group’s Farrah Hussain who scooped the Housebuilder Star award. She was applauded for her commendable work on the complex Beam Park and passion for inspiring the next generation and supporting local communities.
Redrow was winner of the Best customer satisfaction initiative award for its Digital home buying experience. Meanwhile, Kingswood Homes was triumphant in the Best marketing category for its Great big house giveaway.
Barratt London’s Hendon Waterside won the Best regeneration initiative award. City & Country’s The 1840, St George’s Gardens, triumphed in the Best refurbishment project category.
Quinn Estates was named winner of the Best community initiative award for Addressing local skills need at EKC Hersden. In the Best retirement scheme category, McCarthy Stone was handed the gong for Foundry Place, Beccles.
And the Hill Group’s Rubicon in Cambridge was this year’s winner of the Best design for four storeys or more award.
Clarkson Evans was hailed Subcontractor/services provider of the year, with Worcester Bosch’s Bosch Art Project (CS5800iAWR) achieving Product of the year.
Now in their 19th year, the Housebuilder Awards celebrate excellence in all aspects of the sector, including in customer satisfaction, marketing, design, staff development, regeneration and sustainability.
