Shares in George Wimpey and Talyor Woodrow both saw late surges last week as speculation of a merger continued in the City. Wimpey’s shares rose 15p to 482.5p whilst Taylor Woodrow was up 6p to 390p. Both housebuilders have US operations and traders reckon cost savings could be made by knocking them together. Guardian
