Starts at lowest level since records began

New home starts for October have fallen to their lowest level since records began, according to the NHBC’s latest housebuilding statistics. For the three-month period from August to October, there were 19,458 applications to start new homes, a 62% drop from the same period in 2007, with 11,507 relating to private sector activity and 8,041 relating to housing association starts.
