Sir John Carter will be the next chairman of NHBC succeeding Sir Michael Pickard when he retires in November. Sir John joined NHBC&’s board as a non-executive director in 1999, soon after retiring as chief executive of Commercial Union where he had seen through the merger between CU and General Accident to form CGU.
