New regulations for home electrical installations

Part P of the Building Regulations, which is aimed at better controlling home electrical installations, came into force on January 1. Electrical work in kitchens, bathrooms or outdoors or adding new circuits within the home will now require the involvement of the local authority building control department unless a qualified electrician or a registered “competent person” is involved.
