Housing minister Margaret Beckett has paid a visit to one of the first beneficiaries of the government’s HomeBuy Direct scheme. Sally Taylor, a 25-year old policewoman, is buying a two-bedroom flat at the Barratt Homes Equinox development in Cheltenham for £99,000 when the property would normally have cost £142,000.
