McCarthy & Stone recommends new bid

Bidding for McCarthy & Stone stepped up a gear yesterday as the retirement homes builder recommended an offer by a Bank of Scotland led consortium. The consortium, known as Mother Bidco, bid £1.1 billion or £10.75 a share, trumping a £1.06 billion offer by Mars Bidco, a Permira and Barclays consortium, which McCarthy & Stone had previously recommended to shareholders. …
