Hard times for Barratt as it reports £592 million loss

Barratt’s interim results reflect the continuing gloom for housebuilders, with the company making a pre-tax loss of £592.4 million from June to December 2008, against 2007’s profit of £194.6 million. The volume housebuilder’s housing completions were down 23.8%, from 9,056 in 2007 to 6,905 last year. Its revenue shrank from £1,652.8 million to £1,261.8 million, a drop of 23.7%. The …
