Berkeley switches to urban regeneration

Berkeley is to pull out of traditional housebuilding and concentrate on urban regeneration. The move will mean selling off the group's premium housing arms and offloading about half its landbank, 13,000 plots. Managing director Tony Pidgley wants to be the leader in this area and the move is seen as insulating the firm against any major downturn in the market.
